Follow the 100 Blocks Blog Tour!

I have a block in the Quiltmaker 100 Blocks coming out in the next few days. I had a sneak preview and now have quilt ideas swarming around my head. This book is wonderful! So great I think I'll give away a copy of the book. To register, please post a comment on my blog. You can also send an e-mail to julie@quiltedpleasures.com. Make sure I have a way to contact you ifyou win! Tell me what your working on and if your ready for the holidays. (I am not!) I'll put your names in hat and pull out a winner on Thursday November 12th. Look for my block, Hot Fudge Please! Is there anything as good as a bowl of ice cream on a hot summer day? It's great as a place mat.
Follow the 100 Blocks Blog Tour daily Nov. 9-13 at www.Quiltmaker.com/quiltypleasures for inspiration, ideas and giveaways galore! Look for 100 Blocks from Today’s Top Designers in your local quilt shop, or purchase it at www.quiltmaker.com/100blocks.

I am finally starting to settle in in Jacksonville. The weather is beautiful, but I do miss wearing a jacket now and then. The trip was a little hard on my electronics. I had to replace my computer. Too many bumps on the way down I guess. Of course it was right before the new Windows 7 was released. I wasn't sure what to do. After a little research I went ahead with a Vista machine that included the Windows 7 upgrade. I would have liked to buy a Mac, but have too much software that only runs on Windows. I still have my Mac laptop though. Now I just need a new copy of Electric Quilt. Seems I left that box behind.

I am still in the process of setting up my sewing room. Many of my things remain in Erie, Pa, like most of my fabric. My sewing machine has been in the shop as well. Not for much longer though. I got the call today. A board was replaced and the machine is sewing better than it has in quite a while. I can't wait to get it back and get back to work. I've been doing a little hand sewing to pass the time.

Love your block. It would be great for a placemat for my daughter who loves ice cream. I have most of my shopping done for my kids' presents for Christmas. Still have a skating bake sale before I make Christmas goodies. Not feeling as rushed this year - perhaps I'm forgetting about something!! Thanks for the chance. Hope you get your sewing room together before Christmas!

Congratulations on being included in the book. I like your block, it would look great in the center of a table runner. I am working on baby essentials for my first granddaughter. She is expected on Christmas Day. I lived outside of Jacksonville for most of my life and loved it. I now live in Georgia. I hope you enjoy your time in Jacksonville.

You have a very entertaining blog. Love the info on the dogs and sewing and biking. My brother and family live in Jacksonville. I visited small but nice quilt shop there. My husband's family is also in Tallahassee and Pensacola. I love the moss hanging from the oaks and take pictures every time I go. Good luck with your move, hope you enjoy it! I'm working on a BOM with Two Creative Studios blog, a basket applique BOM and hexagons.

I love your block! My family is keeping it really cheap and easy for Christmas this year so I'm ready. I do plan on making some homemade cards within the next few weeks. I've always got several projects going on at once but the most current one is a Black & Bright quilt that just needs the borders to be done.

reddoorquilting said...

I am hardly ready for Thanksgiving, so not ready at all for Christmas. I have several projects going. I am working on a Schnibbel quilt from Miss Rosies and embroidery blocks of the '48' states. Yes it is an old embroidery pattern. Edith

reddoorquilting said...

Not ready for Christmas. I am currently working on a Schnibbles quilt by Miss Rosie titled Picnic and have several other projects underway. I am embroidering the
"48" State flowers (which tells you how old that pattern is. Edith

Definitely not ready for Christmas yet -- I still have to complete the detail quilting on the holiday wall hanging I made last year! (It went up then anyway just not with as much quilting as I would have liked).

Your block is a really unique take on the tradtional "basket" block. Got to try that one!

Somehow I don't think the quilt I've been working on for my son will be done by Christmas. I have a begillion ideas, but so little time. I was much more organized last year! Congratulations on being one of the best!

lisa said...

I am excitedfor Christmas only because I think the three year old is getting REALLY into it this year.

I dream of having a sewing room, so enjoy setting it up. My fabric islovingly stored in the laundry room (makes the chore more fun when I get to drool and oogle my fabric) and I sew in the living room.

Jocelyn said...

Very cute block. NOT ready for Christmas. I've really got too much to do and not enough days. But I am a Florida girl too, so we don't have snow days :-)

arlette said...

Hello, I'm still not ready for christmas, and it's around the corner, geez!, I'll make some handmade items this year for sure

Welcome to Florida. I have been here 7 years and I love it. I love ice cream with hot fudge sauce, but can't eat it often because I am diabetic, so maybe I should make some placemats to remind me of what I can't have.

Christine Frederick said...

Your Hot Fudge block is the best! Makes me smile just thinking of things to make with it. I'm busy making Christmas table runners, but not as close to finishing them as I'd like to be.
